Real dialogue

During meals, I often try to engage Alyria in conversation. Sometimes I’ll describe things we see or our doing, or replay events. But I also make it point to ask her questions, since that engages the mind more.

Typically she’ll tell me about the bird she sees on one of the trees out our window. Then proceed to talk about the blue shirt I’m wearing. And then move on to the next thing.

A few days ago was the first time I realized I was having almost a real conversation with her. I was telling her about our plans for the weekend. She repeated some parts, and I affirmed. She then asked some questions about it, which I answered. Then she asked a follow-up question.

Staying on topic? And showing a clear understanding of what I’m saying? :-o It’s so amazing to witness her growth in such a relatively short time.
